Frequently Asked Questions

What is PLM?
Product lifecycle management (PLM) is the process of managing the entire lifecycle of a product from its conception, through design and manufacture, to service and disposal. It is one of the four cornerstones of a corporation's information technology structure. All companies need to manage communications and information with their customers (CRM-Customer Relationship Management) and their suppliers (SCM-Supply Chain Management) and the resources within the enterprise (ERP-Enterprise Resource Planning). In addition, manufacturing engineering companies must also develop, describe, manage and communicate information about their products (PLM).

What is MPM?
Manufacturing Process Management is a collection of technology and methods used in the manufacture of products. It incorporates such technologies as computer-aided production engineering (CAPE), Advanced Planning & Scheduling (APS), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), Manufacturing Execution System (MES), the utilization of CAD and AEC tools for factory layout and digital mockup (DMU) and simulation for assembly analysis. As the digital manufacturing part of the PLM process it is the bridge from product design to production planning and on to resource and inventory scheduling. As CAD defines what is to be made; and ERP/MRP defines when it is to be made; MPM defines how it will be made.

A cornerstone of MPM is the central repository for manufacturing data management (MDM) similar to PDM for design data. MPM takes the product data eBOM (engineering Bill of Material) to create the process oriented mBOM (manufacturing) along with a bill of process (BOP). This together with the management of resources such as tools, machines and work centers forms the so called 3PR data (product process plant resources). The integration of all these tools and activities aids in the exploration of alternative production line scenarios; making assembly lines more efficient with the aim of reduced lead time to product launch, shorter product times and reduced work in progress (WIP) inventories as well as allowing rapid response to product or product changes.

What do you mean by turn-key solution?
We are offering to our customer zero risk solutions by taking to our charge the deployment risks. Based on the customer accepted specification, we do everything required to put in production our technologies. The customer pays only on satisfaction at predetermine project milestones.

Can I get a demo?
You just need to call us. We will be pleased to organize a demo for you at your facilities or directly via the internet. Click on the Contact Us tab on the top right of this page

Do you have any install based systems?
Yes, of course. Contact us and we will be pleased to give you more information about it.

How can I know if I need your help?
Choose your enterprise category (SME or Large enterprise)from Notixia's corporate web site and learn about the values Notixia solutions can bring to your enterprise.

What is your system requirements?
Our software is multi-platform. It can runs on many operating systems and IT environments:
  • Officially supported: MS-Windows XP/Vista and Linux
  • Other possibilities: UNIX (AIX, Solaris, HP-UX, IRIX) and MacOSX
The system is generally very light weight and easy to deploy (very low IT maintenance) but all those elements can vary depending on the company needs and required integrations. Contact us if you want to have your environment analyzed by our team.

What technologies you are using?
Notixia solutions are almost exclusively written in the Java programming language. We use a multi-tier architecture with an hybrid object-oriented/relational persistence layer. The application server layer is based on our proprietary platform ECIP (Enterprise Core Information Platform).
